![]() ![]() Wait, what exactly is the “Petegansian Method?” This is my term for seeking out poorly-listed, low-price items in auction form on eBay that end between 9 AM and 1 PM (central time zone) Monday-Saturday. This pegs it at the “Hope it works!” level using the Petegansian Method. Not to brag too hard but I was able to score mine for $14 shipped on eBay. Also, the N90s (and slightly less-equipped N90) had a more advanced autofocus system than the pro-level Nikon F4 it was created to keep up with Canon’s autofocus cameras at the time that the F4 wasn’t quite matching. It’s important to note for the sake of thriftyness that the N8008 was it’s predecessor which is also a great camera that goes for even cheaper. However, the F100 still fetches a decent buck online and in local camera stores whereas you can pick up an N90s for very little on eBay. This title was taken by the F100 which came out in 1999. This is due to the fact that in it’s day (1994-99) it was the most advanced amateur SLR Nikon ever made. Its common to have bleeding in one or the other. The N90s is widely regarded as one of the best bargain Nikon film SLRs money can buy. The LCD in the top of the viewfinder is actually located on the body, the lower is in the finder itself. I thought the LCD was on the bodies on the F4, isn't that the case? Don't have my camera handy right now. You can also call Havel Camera in san antonio, tx, as for David, these guys are sanctioned-official nikon techs, and sometimes they have these parts. Look on ebay as well, fir a clunker body with a good prism. Nice thing about the F4 is it's modular design. My F100 has its top LCD cracked and bleeding, I can still use it. Got the camera and lens pretty cheap so an 50-60 dollar investment in the camera would be worth the money. I'll keep an eye out on KEH for a replacement dp-20 in good shape. ![]() Got it working for now but it's not 100% fixed. Wonder if you could call them and ask about a waiting list or notification when the next one comes in? I did find an actual listing for one there too, but none available. I had the same diopter problem with mine, plus the bleeding LCD on top of that. ![]() KEH usually has EX quality DP20s too, if I recall they are around $75-80. I searched KEH first thing and came up empty. Found the repair manual for the dp20 so I'm off to tear something up. ![]() Not sure if that's better or worse than what I have now. That is the dp20 but it has a bleeding LCD. It still works, just not very well.Īnybody have f4s viewfinder laying around?Īnyone know where I can find a replacement viewfinder (part# dp-20). The diopter appears to be broken and "stuff" rattles around when you shake it. Bought a used F4s and it has a viewfinder problem. ![]()
